You looking for a full, downpipe-back system or just an axle-back section?

For downpipes, you can look at AR, ActiveAutowerks, and VRSF. For cat-back exhaust, you have many options. Theres Remus, AE, Vanguard, Akrapovic, VRSF, HPF, and others.

As it sits, combining catless DPs with an aftermarket exhaust typically creates a rather raspy note... Unless ive only heard bad setups

    There you go.

Pick a quality set of downpipes and add a cat-back exhaust and you are golden.

With access to tools and a lift. Typically, how lond should it take to install a set of DPs?

A lift is def gonna help. Depends on a couple things:
    1. Your 1st time, so you're gonna wanna take your time
    2. How difficult the bolts will be to disconnect the DP-Midpipe Exhaust
    3. Will the DPs go in smoothly? Same with the VBand Clips?

If things go smoothly & you take your time, 4 hrs on a lift should be the max. Once the DPs are in & turbo clamps are back on, it's butter. Watch some YouTube videos & see if you're up for it.

That's about what I figured. God, I recall doing a DP on 1994 RX7 R2 without a lift. Not fun AT ALL...

IF I was gonna spend any more on mods, specifically a complete exhaust -- I'd be all over the AA.

BUT I'm broke as $#@! & trying to save money for the next project
